Search Tips

When searching the online catalog or any electronic database remember these brief tips.

Remove the first article (a, an, the) when searching for a title.

Truncate terms to allow for plural or alternate endings. The symbol for truncation is usually a ? or an *. (e.g. stress* = stress, stresses, stressed, etc.)

Use BOOLEAN operators, AND and OR to either narrow or broaden your search. AND narrows, OR expands.

Enclose phrases in quotations marks. (e.g. "united states", "latin america", etc.)
